Every joint in a dryer duct is a lapped seam, and which way that lap faces decides whether lint slides over it or snags on it. Each section is meant to be fitted with its crimped end pointing the way the air travels, so the next piece slips over the outside of it and the bore stays smooth in the direction of flow. Put together the other way round, every joint leaves a lip standing into the airstream. Lint arrives, catches on the lip, and builds backwards from there. It is invisible from both ends of the run, it is not something anybody would think to check, and it turns a duct that should shed lint into one that collects it at intervals along its whole length.

The other thing older runs have is screws. Duct sections used to be joined with sheet metal screws driven through the overlap, and every screw that projects into the pipe is a hook. Lint catches on the point, builds a tail behind it, and the tail grows until that joint is the narrowest part of the whole run. It explains why a vent can be cleared properly and still slow down sooner than the owner expects, and why the same line keeps failing in the same two or three places. Joints get made now without anything protruding into the airstream, which is a small detail that compounds over years of use.

Dryer Vent Cleaning in Plantation — FAQs

What Plantation homeowners ask us about dryer vent cleaning.

The crimped end of each section should point the way the air travels, so the next piece slips over the outside of it and the bore stays smooth in the direction of flow. Assembled the other way, each joint leaves a lip standing into the airstream and lint catches on every one of them. You can check the accessible part yourself. Find a joint and work out which of the two pipes is sitting on the outside. It should be the one further from the dryer, with its cut edge facing back toward the machine. If the outer pipe is the one nearer the dryer, and its cut edge points away down the run, that joint was made the wrong way round. It is an easy mistake to make and a permanent one until the run is taken apart and re-made.

What sets us apart

The Whole Line, From the Dryer to the Outside Wall

Most of the lint that causes trouble is nowhere near the back of the dryer. We clean the complete vent path — from the dryer connection out to the exterior termination, not just the accessible first few feet — then confirm airflow at the outside vent and check that the flap opens the way it should. If the line turns out to be damaged rather than dirty, we show you: a crushed duct or a hood that no longer closes is a repair, and no amount of cleaning fixes it.

How it works

Our 4-Step Dryer Vent Cleaning Process

1

Inspection

We trace the run from the dryer connection out to the exterior termination, so we know how long it is and where the lint has packed.

2

Line Cleaning

We work the complete vent path, not just the few feet you can reach behind the appliance, breaking up the lint compacted against the duct wall.

3

Lint Removal

The lint and any blockages come out of the line and leave with us, rather than being pushed further along the run.

4

Airflow Check

We confirm airflow at the exterior vent and check that the flap opens properly, so the dryer runs cooler and dries in one cycle.

Our results

The Lint That Was in the Line

Dryer vent cleaning pulls the packed lint out of the vent line behind your dryer. That lint is what makes a dryer run hot and take two cycles to dry a load — and it is the reason a clogged vent is a fire risk. Every one of these came out of a South Florida home.
