Start with what the building does not have. A villa on a slab has no floor cavity to run a duct through. A near-flat roof leaves a ceiling void with barely enough depth for the duct itself. And the laundry in these plans usually sits against an interior or party wall, because the outside walls went to the rooms people live in. So the exhaust has to travel horizontally across the home through the one shallow space available, which turns the shortest-looking laundry in the plan into one of the longest runs in the house.
That shortage of room is what produces the fault we most want ruled out here. When the space above the ceiling runs out before the duct reaches an exterior wall, the nearest exit an installer can reach is the soffit, and a run that ends in a soffit is not venting outdoors at all. Soffits are built to let air into the roof space, so the exhaust goes up into it: heat, a load of water vapor, and the lint that made it that far, all delivered into the roof instead of out of the building. If your laundry backs onto an exterior wall and you cannot find a hood on the outside, that is the first thing to check.

Dryer Vent Cleaning in Pompano Beach — FAQs
What Pompano Beach homeowners ask us about dryer vent cleaning.
What sets us apart
The Whole Line, From the Dryer to the Outside Wall
Most of the lint that causes trouble is nowhere near the back of the dryer. We clean the complete vent path — from the dryer connection out to the exterior termination, not just the accessible first few feet — then confirm airflow at the outside vent and check that the flap opens the way it should. If the line turns out to be damaged rather than dirty, we show you: a crushed duct or a hood that no longer closes is a repair, and no amount of cleaning fixes it.

The Lint That Was in the Line
Dryer vent cleaning pulls the packed lint out of the vent line behind your dryer. That lint is what makes a dryer run hot and take two cycles to dry a load — and it is the reason a clogged vent is a fire risk. Every one of these came out of a South Florida home.
